Raise awareness. Make people think outside of the box. Show the electorate choices they have not considered. Try to facilitate positive, constructive change in our political system. These are all of the general ideas I can think of at the moment. I will probably be adding more in the future. Here are some more specific goals:
1. Vote for issues instead of or in addition to candidates. You only have one vote. By “voting” for issues, you are increasing the power of your one vote exponentially.
2. Invest a minimum of a few (five) minutes per week or two weeks or per month or ? and “vote” on an issue by communicating to someone who is actually in office your stance on an issue instead of just talking about it with your friend, family, or co-workers. The only way for positive, constructive change in our political system to happen is to actually communicate with someone who is in office or someone who is running for office. Talking about politics with your family, friends, or co-workers is a great American tradition, but no matter how much you talk, or how loud you talk, or even if you are the alpha-dog, loudest voice in the room, the person people follow and let have the last word in a debate or discussion, you can rant and rave on Facebook, but unless you actually communicate with someone who is actually in office or running for office, as far as positive, constructive political change is concerned, it means NOTHING.
3. Get money completely out of politics. We don’t need money. We just need people to participate by “voting” for issues instead of limiting themselves to the teeny, tiny little box most of the electorate puts itself in where the only option is one of two candidates running for President every four years.
4. Break the monopoly the Democrats and Republicans have on our political system.
5. I have not done a poll, but almost everyone thinks our political system is not working or not working very well. If the ideas/concepts in this website and my Facebook page do not seem like good ideas, then please think about some of your own. Just changing from Republicans to Democrats or Democrats to Republicans is what we have been doing and things just get worse and worse. I do not have a doctoral (or any) degree in Economics or Government Administration or anything. I am just a concerned citizen. I do not know what my IQ is but is probably at best average or below average. This country has the finest, brightest, best minds in the world. If we as citizens start thinking about solutions instead of focusing our just getting our guy or girl to win, the positive possibilities are endless. In our history we as a country conquered an entire continent, sent people to the Moon, and built a life that our ancestors would envy and not possibly imagine. But when it comes to politics and our political system…
